Following their work with artist Dorothy Smith, we are eagerly awaiting seeing The Coolock Group’s collaborative drawing and sonnet, both of which will be on display at Dublin Bus Stop 1200 on the Malahide Road, at Coolock Village, from 25 February to 25 March 2017.
The group will also be producing a publication ‘Put yourself in the Picture’ which will include photographs and descriptions of local places, where they would like to see change. We hope to see this in situ in the local libraries of Coolock, Donaghmede, Marino and Raheny.
In December, children, youth leaders and parents from Belmayne Youth Club attended an exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, showing the work the group had created with Seoidin O’Sullivan and Roisin Byrne. On display in a studio were aerial and 3D maps, posters and clay fossils that the children had made. They also took part in IMMA’s Family Explorer Workshop and planted acorns, collected from an oak tree in the grounds of The Irish Museum of Modern Art, with a view to these being planted in Belmayne in years to come.
In December we heard moving feedback from members of Ayrfield, Artane, Donaghmede and Priorswood & District Men’s Sheds groups, as well as St Benedict’s Photography Group, during our World Cafe Event at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. The groups discussed their experiences of the series of facilitated visits to the Museum that they undertook with Lynn McGrane, Helen Barry, Bridget O’Gorman and Claire Halpin.2
